1.) According to Mr. Green, why do nomads migrate and live near settled peoples?

          Mr. Green states that nomadic people do not move as constantly as they are originally thought to. He gives the example of climate as the main reason such groups of herders constantly move so that they can feed their "flock". Considering that nomads are always moving, their best chance of having plenty of supplies is trading with near by settlements. This is because nomads can not produce manufactured goods due to the fact that they are always on the road, therefore trading is a good option.

2.) Why do pastoral peoples tend to be less patriarchal and more egalitarian?

            Pastoral people typically have to work together to survive more so than non pastoral people. This causes them to be less patriarchal and more egalitarian.

3.) How did the Mongols choose their leaders?

             The Mongols chose leaders through a council  The bigger picture is that someone who wished to be a ruler would call a general council, and anyone who supported him or her would arrive on their horses. 

4.) Name the 4 Khanates that existed after the death of Genghis Khan and their locations.

   a.) Ogedei Khan - Expanded the empire

   b.) Mongke - Great Khan in 1258

   c.) Kublai Khan - Conquered the Song Dynasty in China in 1279

   d.) Mamluks - In the battle of Ain Jalut

5.) Name the 5 reasons Mongols are awesome, according to Mr. Green.

     1.) The Mongols brought back cross-Eurasian trade: The silk road was almost inactive when the Mongols showed first started conquering Eurasia, yet the favored trade and used it greatly simply because they could tax it.

     2.) The Mongols increased communication through Eurasia: They created a mailing system that even included bronze passports.

     3.) Mongols began to trade foods: Mongols did not invent trading foods but did more often than before. Mongols caused rice to because a normal diet due to trading foods.

     4.) The Mongols favored artists and musicians

     5. The Mongols were tolerant of other religions, causing them to adapt their culture to modern Eurasian cultures and also also keep their origin rituals.
