Communism and capitalism are similar in a certain way. For example, communism is more of a controlled social and economic system, while capitalism is more free and things are more openly available to people. They can be similar to each other because they both make up the rich and the poor, the privileged and underprivileged. They are also polar opposites to each other as well as sharing some of the same principles and ideas.
In my opinion, I do not think the two will be able to go hand-in-hand. There are too many opposites and not enough of the same ideas and principles being shared with each other. Communism is very controlling, while capitalism allows more open space for things. You are allowed more freedom with capitalism and with communism it's like you are on a chain and leash.
With the size and population of China growing, it is inevitable that it's economy will surpass America's. The idea of communism spreading to the western world scares people. They do not like change, they stick to old ideas and some do not like to accept new ideas. It could better the country or it could mess it up entirely. In my opinion, I like living in a capitalist country.
